The Amazon MENA team is seeking an analytical and technically skilled Business Intelligence Engineer to join our team. This role involves transforming disparate, raw data into actionable insights that enhance customer experiences while navigating the Amazon store. The team’s focus spans the entire customer shopping journey, from Search and Navigation to Checkout and order placement.

We are searching for a driven individual who is proficient in using BI tools and capable of conducting complex analyses that inform product design and business priorities. This candidate will collaborate closely with Product teams, functioning as a key player rather than solely as a data source. They will engage with multiple data sources, automate essential reports, and work with internal stakeholders to address intricate business challenges. Responsibilities include shaping product design, tracking experiment outcomes, and identifying additional workstreams for product development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interface with business and finance customers to gather requirements and deliver comprehensive BI solutions.
  • Define the team’s BI strategy and ensure the design, development, and maintenance of metrics, reports, and dashboards that drive key business decisions.
  • Enhance ongoing reporting and processes by automating, scaling, or simplifying self-service support for customers.
  • Write high-quality code to retrieve and analyze large, complex datasets.
  • Identify patterns in data and provide data-driven recommendations to boost topline growth and profitability.
  • Develop a deep understanding of key business metrics/KPIs and provide clear, compelling analyses that influence business direction.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of SQL experience.
  • Experience programming for data extraction, transformation, and cleaning of large datasets (multi-TB).
  • Background in the data/BI field.
  • Experience working with business stakeholders to translate data into actionable business insights.
  • Proven ability to manage, analyze, and communicate results to senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g., Python).
  • Familiarity with the design of experiments and statistical analysis of results.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data using Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, QuickSight, or similar.
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis packages such as R, SAS, and Matlab.
  • Experience with AWS solutions like EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift.
  • Background in data mining and ETL processes in a business environment with large-scale datasets.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required; additional language skills may be advantageous but are not specified.
