The Chief Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with tax regulations and maintaining strong controls over project accounting. This role focuses on accurate tax filings, adherence to regulatory requirements, and mitigating financial risks related to tax obligations.
Additionally, the Chief Accountant will oversee project accounting processes, ensuring precise cost tracking, budget adherence, and reliable financial reporting for organizational initiatives. The successful candidate will uphold the highest standards of accuracy and control, contributing to the organization’s financial integrity and operational success. Specifically, the Chief Accountant will be based in Presight’s Kazakhstan Office in Astana and will report to the Senior Finance Business Partner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and control accounting in compliance with legal requirements and internal regulations.
- Oversee the submission of reports to tax and statistical authorities, and prepare financial statements for external auditors and internal company needs.
- Develop and implement measures to optimize accounting and financial processes within the company.
- Interact with tax authorities, including representing the company during tax audits.
- Monitor changes in legislation and promptly inform other company departments about important updates.
- Control calculations with accountable funds, manage contracts, including those with non-residents, focusing on taxation.
- Manage managerial reporting, control primary documentation, and electronic invoices.
- Ensure all financial operations comply with legal requirements.
- Prepare financial, statistical, and tax reports.
- Organize and control settlements with clients and suppliers.
- Control accounts receivable and payable, ensuring timely settlement according to contract terms.
- Monitor cash flow on accounts and ensure timely payments.
- Lead the accounting department, allocate duties to employees, and control their work.
Qualifications:
- Higher education in accounting, finance, or economics.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar position.
- Knowledge of IFRS and tax legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
- Experience working with non-residents.
- Attention to detail, responsibility, and high organizational skills.
- Ability to work under multitasking conditions and tight deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting and tax legislation.
- Skills in tax planning, control, and tax reporting.
- Experience in implementing automation systems and optimizing document flow.
- Successful experience in passing various audits, including tax audits.
- Strategic thinking and excellent analytical abilities.
- Professional accountant certification in Kazakhstan; additional certifications like CAP or DipIFR (Russian) are a plus.
- Strong computer skills, proficiency in 1C (accounting system), Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Ability to work with large volumes of information in a multitasking environment.
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
