Core Accountabilities
- Take overall technical authority, responsibility, and accountability for the technical performance of a product system or system-element throughout its life cycle.
- Perform technical processes including mission analysis, requirements definition, architectural definition, verification, and validation.
- Lead the creation and modification of detailed aircraft and missile designs using advanced CAD software, ensuring precision and compliance with engineering standards.
- Conduct in-depth analyses of aerodynamic performance and flight mechanics, utilizing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and other simulation tools to inform design decisions.
- Direct hands-on prototyping activities using advanced manufacturing techniques, including 3D printing, CNC machining, and custom PCB design, to quickly evolve prototypes from concept to functional systems.
- Design and implement defense systems with a focus on hardware and software integration, utilizing PX4 and MAVLink protocols to establish robust communication between onboard systems and ground control stations.
- Develop and maintain high-performance software applications using C++ for real-time processing; create user-friendly interfaces with Qt and QML for ground control stations, ensuring efficient monitoring and control of defense system operations.
- Utilize ROS (Robot Operating System) to develop modular robotic applications, enabling seamless integration of various sensors (e.g., cameras, LiDAR) and components, and implement ROS nodes for sensor data acquisition and processing to facilitate real-time decision-making in flight scenarios.
Qualifications / Experience
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; preferred Master's or PhD in Engineering.
- A minimum of 18 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering within the defense industry.
- Proficiency in missile design, including flight mechanics, stability, weight and balance, and structural design.
- Proficiency in CAD, FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and CFD.
- Experience in system testing and validation.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and/or engineering specialty software.
