Civil Engineer Level II

About the Role
This position requires comprehensive technical competency in civil and structural engineering. The role involves adhering to engineering practices and regulatory requirements while actively contributing to the standardization of specifications, drawings, and templates. You will coordinate with diverse teams to meet project expectations and to ensure project success. Furthermore, this role involves managing quality, safety, and adherence to company values as you support our customers in navigating complexity in energy, chemicals, and resources.

Responsibilities
Technical Competency

• Supports adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
• Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications when viable and lawful.
• Prepares design specifications for civil and structural works.
• Ensures that documentation for designs remains accurate and current during the development of the design.
• Prepares detailed designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports and follows required checking procedures.

Project Execution

• Knows the discipline's scope, cost, and time requirements and assists the team in meeting expectations.
• Supports management of project change and progress for the discipline, coordinates with the Project Management Team for corrective actions.
• Plans discipline quality, monitors quality activities, and recommends improvements.
• Provides technical support within the discipline team and consults with relevant resources as required.
• Conducts studies, analyses, and recommends actions.
• Identifies opportunities to solve problems through applying engineering knowledge.

Project Deliverables

• Gathers data and prepares engineering studies, analyses, calculations, etc.
• Determines technical issues, defines alternate solutions, and makes recommendations through official project documents.
• Creates final documentation and pursues customer approval.
• Performs discipline-specific engineering services including:
  • Identifying changes to project scope;
  • Contributing to studies, analyses, and recommendations;
  • Assisting with procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Updates existing calculations and drawings for infrastructural works such as foundations, roads, and drainage systems.
• Designs civil drawings and documents for steel structures, including pipe racks and equipment platforms.

Quality Assurance

• Works within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance systems.

Safety

• Responsible for personal safety and adheres to Occupational Health & Safety procedures.
• Implements HSE in the design process with a focus on process safety and uses best practices.

Job Specific Knowledge

• Demonstrates a commitment to HSE management in project environments.
• Possesses a good understanding of onshore and offshore engineering practices applicable to civil structural design for oil and gas facilities.
• Has experience in brownfields and asset service type projects/contracts.
• Good working knowledge of civil design and engineering requirements, including local standards, regulations, and statutory requirements.
• Proficient in relevant software and civil structural discipline-specific software such as STAAD-Pro, Mat 3D, and AutoCAD.
• Familiar with industrial/international codes and standards such as BS, UBC, IBC, AISC, ACI, and ASCE.

Industry Specific Experience

• Minimum years of civil and structural engineering experience in oil and gas onshore projects.
• Familiarity with discipline design/engineering, including multi-disciplinary projects.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training

• Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
