We believe that Engineering Managers should be outstanding engineers who feel comfortable troubleshooting technical issues and engaging in technical presales conversations with customers. They contribute to project delivery while shaping the team's direction, focus, and delivery.
The Cloud Field Engineering Manager leads the Field Engineering team, a group of cloud solutions architects working directly with customers to design private and public cloud solutions that fit their workload needs. The portfolio includes on-premise cloud solutions and solutions that can be deployed in public clouds. Responsibilities include line management, career guidance, developing engineering talent, driving collaboration, and participating in presales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of Field engineers in the areas of Presales and Professional Services
- Solve customer problems and serve as a trusted advisor
- Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback
- Identify and measure team health indicators
- Implement disciplined engineering processes
- Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
- Collaborate with other leaders as part of the leadership team
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts & technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph)
- Practical knowledge of Linux and networking
- Experience in technical presales
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Passion for developing and growing people
- Experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring engineers
- Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time, attending internal and external events
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Second language (Spanish or French)
- Python knowledge
- Experience collaborating with external partners and internal teams
