This is an opportunity to run a field engineering team, helping customers understand and implement Canonical's open source solutions in public clouds and in their own data centers. We work across the entire spectrum of cloud offerings, from Ubuntu itself to virtualization and private cloud, Kubernetes, and the implementation of sophisticated open source solutions such as MLOps platforms and data platforms. As a Cloud Field Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of cloud solutions architects working directly with customers to design private and public cloud solutions that fit their workload needs. The portfolio of products includes on-premise cloud solutions like OpenStack, MicroCloud, and Ceph, as well as solutions that can be deployed in public clouds such as Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, and PostgreSQL. You will guide and mentor your team while participating in technical presales to provide advice during the sales process.

Responsibilities include leading and developing a team of Field Engineers, solving customer problems by promoting our technologies, coaching and mentoring your team, implementing disciplined engineering processes, and actively participating in technical presales to meet departmental goals.
The work is remote in a single major time zone, with a willingness to travel up to 40% of the time for internal company events, external tech events, and customer meetings.
Skills and qualifications required: knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies, practical knowledge of Linux and networking, experience in technical presales, excellent communication skills in English, and a passion for developing and growing people. A second language (Spanish or French) is preferred, and experience collaborating with external partners and internal teams is a plus.
