Engineering Managers at Canonical are expected to be outstanding engineers themselves, comfortable troubleshooting technical issues and engaging in presales conversations with customers. While they should contribute to project delivery, their primary focus is on shaping the team's direction, focus, and delivery. We emphasize management skills and provide training for engineers interested in developing their soft skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of field engineers in presales and professional services.
- Solve customer problems by promoting our technologies and acting as a trusted advisor.
- Coach, mentor, and offer career development feedback to team members.
- Implement disciplined engineering processes and measure team health indicators.
- Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
- Collaborate actively within the leadership team to drive team success.
What We Are Looking For:
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts & technologies, such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, and Ceph.
- Practical knowledge of Linux and networking.
- Experience in technical presales.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish or French is a plus.
- Passion for developing and growing team members.
- Organized, able to ensure timely and high-quality results.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time for internal events, external tech events, and customer meetings.
