Engineering Managers at Canonical are expected to possess outstanding engineering skills, capable of troubleshooting technical issues and engaging in technical presales conversations. Role of a Cloud Professional Services Manager:
- Oversee a team of cloud solutions architects, designing private and public cloud solutions tailored to customer workload needs.
- Manage products including OpenStack, MicroCloud, Ceph, Kubernetes, and more.
- Participate in technical presales and direct hands-on deployment, testing, and project delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of engineers from graduate to senior levels.
- Work remotely within a single major time zone.
- Coach and mentor team members, providing career development advice.
- Identify and monitor team health indicators.
- Represent your team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
- Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts & technologies (Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph, etc.).
- Practical knowledge of Linux and networking.
- Experience in technical presales.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A history of developing and growing engineering talent.
- Organized and able to ensure timely, high-quality results.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in a second language (Spanish or French).
- Python knowledge.
- Experience working with external partners and multiple internal teams.
