Cloud SME

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cloud Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a focus on supporting our edge delivery and security platforms. This role will involve proactively addressing both delivery and security threats while enhancing the overall capacity, performance, and security posture of our internet-facing applications.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain the CDN aspects of application and infrastructure services.
• Implement best practices for monitoring, alerting, and logging to improve the observability maturity of the business, optimizing response times to alerts.
• Participate in incident investigation and forensic analysis of complex application and infrastructure issues.
• Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot issues and provide production support.
• Analyze emerging technologies, features, and industry trends, trialing and adopting them as needed while showcasing the business benefits.
• Work with Security SMEs and other senior application architecture stakeholders to implement response, mitigation, and prevention strategies at the WAF layer.
• Review security findings, including penetration tests, bug bounty submissions, and live incidents.
• Participate in on-call rotation, responding to incidents in a timely and effective manner.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a related role.
• Experience with all aspects of Web and API workloads, including their underlying protocols; additional experience with API-focused, native mobile, and CMS applications is preferred.
• Proficiency in managing cloud CDN and WAF services, preferably Akamai.
• Strong understanding of TCP, DNS, TLS, HTTP, and other underpinning technologies.
• Experience implementing solutions that adhere to security best practices and governance standards such as PCI-DSS, OWASP, etc.
• Experience in implementing observable systems, with familiarity in APM tools (e.g., New Relic, Dynatrace, Datadog, Azure Monitor) as a plus.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
