About the Role

Responsibilities
CNS System Development

  • Participate in the development and maintenance of current and future CNS system asset designs that meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the CNS Systems Engineering Chief in assessing impacts of changes in ATS procedures and airspace structure on current and planned CNS systems.
  • Coordinate with other Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) for technical interfacing, integration, and communication.
  • Evaluate the impact of obstacles around airports on CNS functionality and escalate unacceptable obstacles.
  • Manage CNS systems initiatives and programs.
  • Participate in and introduce working papers at international and regional conferences and ICAO panels related to CNS systems.

CNS System Operations

  • Collaborate with other ANSPs for technical interfacing, integration, and communication.
  • Support the development of the CNS/ATM Evolution Plan, ensuring all CNS system needs are addressed.
  • Translate air traffic requirements from control centers and ATS units into technical plans by developing system design concepts, performance specifications, identifying procurement requests, and defining installation and testing standards.
  • Participate in testing, commissioning, and hand-over of CNS system projects, ensuring compliance with specifications and performance requirements.
  • Support CNS systems maintenance activities to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor on-site activities for adherence to agreed specifications and quality standards, taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Develop scope of works (SOWs) for CNS systems requirements.
  • Participate in technical proposal reviews and evaluations for CNS systems.

CNS System Design and Quality

  • Coordinate with other ESD departments to ensure compatibility of CNS systems designs with existing and future CNS/ATM systems and infrastructure.
  • Engage in system design review meetings (SDR, PDR, CDR).
  • Analyze systems trouble reports (STRs) and conduct required modification programs and systems change processes (SCPs).
  • Advise the CNS Systems Engineering Chief on potential impacts of ongoing projects on ATC service delivery.

Policies, Processes, and Procedures

  • Assist in updating general and technical standards and specifications within SANS.
  • Contribute to the revision of ESD manuals.
  • Participate in audits of CNS systems, both internal and external.

Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum to no prior years of experience in Air Navigation Systems required.

Education and Certifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or equivalent is required.
