The selected candidate will be integral to community management at scale, with roles available across different seniority levels. As a Community Engineer, you will enable community leaders to coordinate effectively with Canonical teams, ensuring efficient community processes.

In this role, you'll support community initiatives using your technical skills and organizational abilities. Collaborating closely with developers, you'll streamline processes and align community plans with Canonical's objectives for maximum impact. You will encourage the creation of new technical projects to improve community contributions and represent community interests within Canonical teams. Your responsibilities will include leading complex programs from ideation to launch, engaging with volunteer developers in the Ubuntu community, and maintaining effective communication to ensure community engagement and information flow.

This position requires a technically proficient individual who is passionate about open-source software, Linux, and sustainable community building. You will write content to promote community initiatives, engage with various platforms like Discourse and social media, and represent Ubuntu at conferences and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write high-quality content to support community initiatives.
  • Collaborate with teams to solve community problems.
  • Engage with the Ubuntu community across multiple channels.
  • Represent the Ubuntu community at events and conferences.
  • Support Canonical's engagement in the open-source ecosystem.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in technology and a passion for working with innovative people.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of objectives.
  • Experience with developer tools and open-source projects.
  • Proven track record in public engagements (talks, blog contributions).
  • Familiarity with Ubuntu Linux, DevOps, software development, testing, or container technology.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in community management or developer advocacy is a plus.
