About the Job:
Canonical is looking for passionate individuals to join our team as Community Engineers. Our ambition is to set a standard of excellence in serving the open source ecosystem. The Community team at Canonical enables community leaders and participants to coordinate effectively, ensuring community processes are efficient and well-run.
As a Community Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, executing, and scaling initiatives that foster a thriving open source community. This position is ideal for someone with a technical background and a passion for open source software, particularly Linux.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support community initiatives using your technical and organizational skills.
  • Collaborate with developers to integrate community plans with Canonical's objectives.
  • Lead complex programs from conception through launch, working with various teams.
  • Engage with volunteer developers in the Ubuntu community, providing guidance and support.
  • Create content to keep the community informed and engaged, including blog posts and social media updates.
  • Represent the Ubuntu community at conferences and through public speaking engagements.
  • Facilitate community contributions and encourage collaboration in the open source ecosystem.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with developer tools and open source projects.
  • Proven record of accomplishments (e.g., talks, blogs, contributions to GitHub).
  • Interest or experience in areas such as Ubuntu Linux, DevOps, software development, QA, package management, and container technology.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work autonomously.

Additional Skills (Optional):

  • Experience in community management and/or developer advocacy.
  • Experience as a software developer and contributions to the Ubuntu community.

Location & Work Conditions:
