As a Community Engineer, you will enable community leaders and participants to coordinate with Canonical teams, ensuring that community processes are efficient. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting community initiatives with technical skills and strong organizational abilities.
- Collaborating with developers and community members to integrate community plans with Canonical's for maximum impact.
- Encouraging and facilitating new technical projects that enhance the community contribution experience.
- Leading complex programs from conception to launch while working with various teams, including Developer Relations, product management, and external partners.
- Engaging with volunteer developers, addressing their concerns, and helping them succeed in their projects.
- Creating content to keep the community engaged, including blog and social media posts about community initiatives and events.
- Representing the Ubuntu community and Canonical at conferences and expos, discussing technical projects and their development processes.
Work Conditions:
- Fully remote role open to candidates globally.
- Work from home with travel expected 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events, with potential for more if desired.
What We Are Looking For:
- Passion for technology and working with diverse teams.
- Experience with developer tools and open source projects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with community management and engagement.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage objectives effectively.
- Familiarity with Ubuntu Linux, DevOps, software development, and contributing to open source projects.
