As a Community Engineer, you will enable community leaders and participants to coordinate with Canonical teams, ensuring that community processes are efficient. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting community initiatives with technical skills and strong organizational abilities.
  • Collaborating with developers and community members to integrate community plans with Canonical's for maximum impact.
  • Encouraging and facilitating new technical projects that enhance the community contribution experience.
  • Leading complex programs from conception to launch while working with various teams, including Developer Relations, product management, and external partners.
  • Engaging with volunteer developers, addressing their concerns, and helping them succeed in their projects.
  • Creating content to keep the community engaged, including blog and social media posts about community initiatives and events.
  • Representing the Ubuntu community and Canonical at conferences and expos, discussing technical projects and their development processes.

Work Conditions:

  • Fully remote role open to candidates globally.
  • Work from home with travel expected 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events, with potential for more if desired.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Passion for technology and working with diverse teams.
  • Experience with developer tools and open source projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with community management and engagement.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage objectives effectively.
  • Familiarity with Ubuntu Linux, DevOps, software development, and contributing to open source projects.

  • Community management experience.
  • Developer advocacy experience.
  • Contributions to the Ubuntu Community or other open source projects.
