Position

Control engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users' needs. The discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, which includes identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Protection coordination design and validation, control, protection, and sequencing strategy specifications, and parameters tuning to meet grid stability criteria specified in customer technical specifications.
  • Defining control system requirements for the software architecture, development, and verification.
  • Performing PSSE/PSCAD and PSSE/RSCAD Power system network conversion, modelling, and verification; preparing RSCAD models and performing studies on Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) models.
  • Design and develop substation control philosophies, protection single-line diagrams (SLD), as well as control and protection, and SCADA systems, auxiliary supply systems, and associated equipment.
  • Collaborate with other functions to integrate control and protection systems into overall project designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or relevant educational degree.
  • At least 3 years of experience in substation integration design, with a minimum of 5 years in substation protection, control, and auxiliary system design.
  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, and transmission lines.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret relay settings, coordination curves, and fault records.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
