Job Description:
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and maintaining control systems for drilling rigs
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley or Siemens)
- Experience with SCADA systems and HMI development
- Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Hands-on approach to problem-solving
- Knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Positive, solution-oriented mindset (“Can Do” attitude)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs (preferred over Siemens)
- Experience with ABB and GE Conver team VFDs
- Familiarity with Industrial PCs, Servers, and industrial communication protocols and networking
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design and Implementation: Support the development and implementation of advanced control systems for drilling rigs and equipment, including participation in customer and vendor meetings, and internal design reviews.
- System Support: Perform regular support activities such as lab and shop floor set-up, integration testing, factory and customer acceptance testing.
- Technical Support: Troubleshoot drilling rig and associated equipment control systems to minimize downtime and optimize performance; provide technical support and guidance to internal field technicians, drilling operations, and support teams.
- Safety Protocols: Ensure all control systems comply with industry safety standards and regulations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team and operations teams to integrate new technologies and improve existing systems.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation for control systems and procedures, such as product documentation, functional requirements documents, and commissioning documents.
- Training: Train and mentor junior engineers on control system design, implementation, and maintenance; support field technicians in deploying and commissioning drilling rig control systems.
- Others: Perform duties in accordance with company policies and quality objectives; make decisions within their scope of work and escalate issues as needed; report any nonconformities or risks impacting quality, compliance, safety, or customer satisfaction; support organizational QHSE objectives; other duties as assigned.
Language Requirements:
- Proficiency in English (additional languages may be a plus).
