Job Description
As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of advanced control systems for drilling rigs and related equipment. You will work closely with engineering and operations teams and participate in troubleshooting to optimize system performance. Your role will involve ensuring compliance with safety standards, preparing technical documentation, and mentoring junior engineers.

Must-Have Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience designing and maintaining control systems for drilling rigs.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley or Siemens).
  • Experience with SCADA systems and HMI development.
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Positive, solution-oriented mindset (“Can Do” attitude).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs (preferred over Siemens).
  • Experience with ABB and GE Conver team VFDs.
  • Familiarity with Industrial PCs, Servers, and industrial communication protocols and networking.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of advanced control systems.
  • Perform regular support activities such as integration testing and acceptance testing.
  • Troubleshoot drilling rig control systems to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate new technologies.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and field technicians.
  • Follow company policies and ensure high-quality work standards.
