As a Controls Project Engineer, you will work closely with the Project Leader, Integration Manager, and Mechanical and Electrical Engineers as part of a multidisciplinary team. This position involves managing technical solutions related to control engineering and supporting sales during the bid and contract phases. Tasks and Responsibilities
- Design and program PLC controls for material handling systems in the Airports domain, ensuring high-quality standards are met on a project basis.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary project team to deliver a Functional Specification during the engineering phase.
- Develop detailed design, programming, and testing of PLC software.
- Travel to customer sites to commission material handling systems once the engineering phase is complete.
- Conduct functional testing of PLC hardware and software during the commissioning phase.
- Integrate PLC software into the overall control system and assist with customer acceptance testing.
- Monitor the available budget and agreed schedule throughout the project execution, implementing necessary actions as appropriate.
Your Profile
- A technical degree (Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Industrial Automation, Computer Science, or Control Technology) at least at the bachelor level.
- Previous experience in the material handling domain is an advantage.
- Desired experience level: 8 years and above in a project engineering environment (system integration, solution design, project delivery).
- Knowledge of design practices, qualification requirements, and systems development lifecycle.
- Ability to develop PLC applications (TIA Portal, Siemens S7-300 & 400 series, Siemens S7-1500 series).
- Knowledge of Allen Bradley or other PLC platforms is an advantage.
- Familiarity with SCADA applications on relevant platforms (WinCC, WebFactory, etc.).
- Ability to develop applications for safety systems using relevant platforms, such as Siemens safety PLC.
- Understanding of fieldbus technology: Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet, AS-I, CC-Link.
- Skill in communicating regular progress reports, awareness of Earned Value Management, managing deadlines, and milestones.
- Ability to provide feedback on lessons learned from projects into products, processes, and tooling.
- Experience working with cross-functional, diverse, and global teams.
- Strong analytical skills; proactive, flexible, pragmatic, and hands-on.
- Capable of adapting to change with ease and managing multiple complicated tasks.
- Willing to go the extra mile to develop control competency within the department.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
