About the Role
Join the Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) team, the engine that powers the cloud services surrounding a global portfolio of datacenters that serve over a billion customers and 20 million businesses. As a Critical Environment Program Manager, you will be responsible for the availability, safety, and operational performance of mechanical and electrical infrastructure within our leased datacenters. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that all work is executed safely, on time, and in alignment with the company standards. You will maintain the relationship with landlord partners, govern any changes affecting the live environment, and manage critical environment risks and escalations at a regional level. This position encompasses collaboration across operations, engineering, construction, IT, and networking teams, as well as with external vendors, to convert business and technical objectives into actionable maintenance and risk-mitigation plans. Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems within a datacenter, ensuring effective planning and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Ensure uptime and reliability of critical environment systems through proactive monitoring and maintenance oversight.
  • Lead operational excellence by executing and governing processes such as maintenance procedures and incident reviews (RCAs).
  • Drive safety and compliance, ensuring adherence to the company standards and addressing risks or incidents immediately.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, vendors, and landlord partners to optimize data center performance and resolve issues regionally.
  • Identify and minimize risk to reduce human error and high-impact incidents year over year.
  • Support emergency response readiness, acting as an escalation point for facilities-related incidents.
  • Deliver on efficiency outcomes through cost optimization and energy efficiency initiatives and support data-driven operations by measuring and reporting key metrics.
  • Recognize and communicate the customer impact of operational events, planning accordingly to minimize disruptions.
  • Act as a regional subject matter expert for critical environment operations, providing support to leased datacenter sites across the region.
  • Share best practices and assist others in learning processes while providing mentorship across data centers.
  • Support new site onboarding and transitions with landlord partners while overseeing newly delivered capacity.
  • Provide coverage for peer Field Service Engineers during absences or elevated activity periods.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND 7+ years of industry experience in a Data Center or critical environment facility, OR 10+ years of industry experience with relevant college coursework.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, Chillers, AHUs).
  • Experience applying formal change and maintenance controls (MOP/SOP/EOP) and participating in root cause analysis in a live production environment.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the sub-region to provide on-site support, with travel typically constituting 25-30% of working time, varying with business needs.
