We are looking for a C++/Rust Graphics and Windowing System Software Engineer to join our team.

You will be working on Mir, a high-performance technology stack for window managers and display subsystems. Your role will include designing, developing, and testing features, as well as collaborating with the community and addressing user inquiries. We seek candidates who have a passion for precision, performance, and user experience, and who possess strong programming skills in both Rust and C++.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement features across the Mir stack.
  • Debug, track down, and fix issues.
  • Participate in code and architectural reviews.
  • Create and improve tests and performance benchmarks.
  • Maintain documentation to enhance developer experience.
  • Engage with the open source community and commercial partners.
  • Collaborate proactively with a distributed team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field, with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong skills in modern C++ and Rust programming.
  • Familiarity with Linux as a development and deployment platform.
  • Ability to work remotely with a diverse team and stay organized.
  • Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events (up to two weeks).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with the Wayland protocol ecosystem and compositors.
  • Familiarity with OpenGL, Vulkan, Flutter, and other graphics toolkits and animation frameworks.
  • Understanding of asynchronous programming and concurrency patterns.
  • Proven ability to deliver robust code to production.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Conditions:

  • This role is remote, and you will be part of a distributed team.
