Data & Analytics Specialist

About the Role
In this role, you will develop and maintain analytical solutions, dashboards, and reports to support informed business decisions. You will be responsible for translating stakeholder business needs into technical specifications and BI standards. This position requires you to develop, deploy, and maintain Power BI cubes, data models, and database queries while optimizing them for performance. You'll perform advanced data modeling and data collection from various primary and secondary sources, identifying trends and patterns in complex datasets to turn data into actionable business insights. Ensuring that reports are tested, tracking and resolving defects and issues to closure will also be part of your responsibilities. Collaboration with the Digital Core Team and various business units on BI project goals, timelines, and standardized reporting requirements is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain analytical solutions, dashboards, and reports.
• Translate stakeholder business needs into technical specifications and BI standards.
• Develop, deploy and maintain Power BI cubes, data models and database queries, optimizing for performance.
• Perform advanced data modeling and data collection from primary and secondary sources.
• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends in complex datasets to generate business insights.
• Ensure reports are tested, tracking and resolving defects and issues.
• Collaborate with the Digital Core Team and business units on BI project goals and timelines.

Requirements

• 4 to 6 years of experience in the Analytics and BI domain, preferably within the Microsoft stack (MSBI, Power BI, Excel), with experience creating business-critical dashboards and reports in Power BI using SQL Server and Lakehouse as sources.
• In-depth knowledge of data lake and data warehouse/BI development focused on auditability and end-to-end lineage.
• Experience with Dynamics 365 or ERP in a role within IT, Finance, or Business.
• Technical expertise in data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
• Hands-on experience in Power BI report design with expertise in on-premise Power BI Report Server, DAX, and T-SQL queries with integration into cloud services.
• Experience in data warehousing and dimensional modeling (Star and Snowflake schemas).
• Experience in maintaining and customizing cubes using SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and using data visualization/reporting tools like SSRS and Power BI.
• Ability to create Power BI reports using various sources including Excel, CSV, SQL Server, Oracle, Azure SQL, and Azure Data Warehouse.
• Experience in creating complex calculations and measures for visuals and KPIs using DAX.
• Familiarity with Azure Cloud Services, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Storage, and Azure Data Lake is an added advantage.

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applications, or related field.
• Certification in Business Analysis is an advantage.
• Microsoft Azure-related training/certifications are an asset (e.g., Data Scientist Associate DP-100, Power BI Data Analyst Associate PL-300, or equivalents from other major cloud platforms).

Knowledge of

• In-depth knowledge of SQL Server, SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS; SQL database administration experience is a plus.
• Understanding of Microsoft Dynamics 365 architecture.
• Proficiency in designing and publishing Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Expertise in crafting complex SQL queries and optimizing the performance of Power BI reports, including database design (tables, views, stored procedures, functions) using SQL Server.

Skills Required

• Proven analytical background.
• Proficient in SQL scripting/programming languages; Python/R scripting is preferred.
• RPA and predictive analytics capabilities are advantageous.
