Data Architect

About the Role
This role is expected to architect, design, and implement cloud-based big data analytics solutions that are dynamic, scalable, fault-tolerant, secure, and reliable. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining an enterprise self-service cloud data platform and architecture, which involves building reference architectures, technical blueprints, and accelerators for data product teams. This position is pivotal in translating business requirements into effective data solutions that encompass both data engineering and business intelligence, developing data models, defining data architecture, and ensuring data integrity, security, scalability, and performance aligned with specific project or program needs.

Your duties would include:

• Ensure to create and align a technical blueprint for cloud data analytics strategy with the organization's technology roadmap. Additionally, ensure that the work program adheres to the defined blueprint.
• Work closely with other data architects to foster collaboration, create synergies in solutions and establish standardized tools and technologies.
• Design and develop a robust, scalable, and high-performance self-serve data platform that empowers data product engineers to build data products, as well as data analysts and business users to access and analyze data without the need for extensive technical expertise.
• Create and maintain reference and solution architecture blueprints.
• Ensure data security, compliance, and governance best practices are implemented across the data platform.
• Select and implement appropriate technologies for the self-serve data platform, including tools for data ingestion, orchestration, storage & transformation.
• Leverage strong business acumen to translate business requirements to create solution artefacts that build data solutions.
• Select appropriate technologies and tools offered by the organization’s self-serve data platform for building secure and cost-effective data solutions.
• Generate specifications for BI architecture and other design artefacts that illustrate the approach and impact of proposed solutions.
• Facilitate technical and business sessions required to align the solution architecture, encompassing both data engineering and business intelligence, with business and technology objectives throughout the development lifecycle.
• Design and develop enterprise-level big data models to effectively organize and manage massive datasets.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable big data architectures and enterprise models for the organization's big data warehouse, ensuring optimal performance in managing massive datasets.
• Assess existing data architectures, identify areas for improvement, and provide strategic recommendations.
• Implement metadata management practices to catalogue and track data assets across the organization.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimize data platform services and data solutions.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest cloud data platform technologies.
• Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and architectures and lead proof of concepts.

Requirements
We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional to join our IT team. The ideal candidate should possess the following:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with a Minimum of 6 years of job-related experience

Essential

• 6+ years of experience in Big Data, Data Warehouse, Data Analytics projects, with at least 3 years in a Data Architect role.
• Prior experience building large-scale enterprise data architectures using commercial and/or open-source Data Analytics technologies.
• Prior experience building large-scale enterprise big data models.
• Hands-on & in-depth experience of cloud solutions from a BI Architecture/Data Engineer perspective.
• Hands-on experience in developing and implementing large-scale Data Warehouses, Business Intelligence solutions, including Data Lakes/Data Hubs.
• Hands-on experience with productionizing cloud data solutions with administration, configuration management, monitoring, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Data modeling and solutioning skills including a strong foundation in data warehousing concepts, data normalization, and dimensional data modeling (such as Kimball, Inmon, data vault, etc.).
• Ability to produce client-ready solution architecture, business-understandable presentations, and good communication skills to lead and conduct workshops.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing principles and architecture.
• Proficiency in data engineering concepts, ETL processes, data warehousing, and data lakes.
• Experience designing, developing, and implementing data ingestion pipelines, data processing pipelines, and data storage solutions.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and experience with scripting.
• In-depth knowledge of big data modeling methodologies, including dimensional, star schema, and snowflake models.
• Expertise in infrastructure as code (Terraform, Cloud Formation, etc.) and automation tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.

Preferred

• Knowledge of data mesh architecture.
• Knowledge of agile/lean development methodologies.
• Airline industry experience, though not essential, would be an added advantage.
