The Data Center Technician is responsible for the effective delivery of hands-on technical support and installations within a data center. Key responsibilities include server hardware and network break-fix tasks, structured cabling installation, rack deployments and decommissioning activities, site planning, problem escalation, and performing installations. The role also involves prioritizing ticketing queues, resolving incidents and escalations, and providing 24x7 site coverage for data center sites.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
- Hands-on experience in IT infrastructure support, including server and network maintenance and structured cabling in a large-scale mission-critical environment.
- Understanding of data center infrastructure and facility operations.
- Ability to work in cramped spaces and elevated locations.
- Strong communication skills (oral & written), with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of customers and staff.
- Experience providing client-facing, direct customer support.
- Ability to work productively in remote cross-functional teams and independently.
Required Experience:
- Hands-on experience in server and network hardware installation, break-fix, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with structured cabling, troubleshooting methodologies, and diagnostic procedures.
- Knowledge of airflow management (hot aisle, cold aisle, containment, etc.).
- Familiarity with Linux Operating Systems and proficiency in command line tools.
- Experience in handling large inventory and implementing quality control.
Work Conditions:
- On-call requirements with the ability to reach the data center site within 60 minutes.
- Potential work in cramped spaces and elevated locations.
- Adherence to defined health and safety processes.

- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in a virtual environment.
