Data Center Technician

As a Data Center Technician (DCT), you will stage, set up, and perform hardware deployments. In addition to this, you will troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues and perform hardware decommissions for simple changes and refreshes, following Standard Operating Procedures. This role provides an opportunity to deepen your understanding of Data Center processes, develop mentoring skills while guiding peers, and familiarize yourself with security and data management procedures, ultimately accelerating your career growth.

The company’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) powers cloud services like Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. As a CO+I DCT, you will play a crucial role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for these services.

Work Site: Fully on-site
Travel: Less than 25%

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures, quickly identifying causes of issues and replacing faulty components with minimal disruption to customers and business.
• Execute post-execution quality checks to ensure that grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling comply with safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
• Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, rebuilds) with minimal guidance.
• Communicate, report, and escalate incidents to data center operations management units, Technician Leads, and engineering specialists as required.
• Assist and mentor other technicians in completing challenging or complex tasks.
• Complete required training and observe experienced technicians to gain hands-on experience and relevant on-the-job training.
• Foster a positive and effective team environment by sharing information, contributing to team meetings, asking questions, and staying informed about team status.
