Data Center Technician

This position involves ensuring effective delivery of technical support and installations within a Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) datacenter in Saudi Arabia. Responsibilities include break-fix tasks, hardware and network maintenance, cabling and rack deployments, site planning, problem escalation, and managing installations. The technician will prioritize ticketing queues, resolve escalations, and address blocking issues to maintain continuous service delivery in line with internal policies and service level agreements. Additionally, the role requires providing 24x7 site coverage for the datacenter.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
• Experience in IT Infrastructure support and server administration in a mid-sized environment (200 - 1000+ server systems)
• Basic knowledge of data center design, including electrical and cooling plant & operation
• Strong structured cabling skills on fiber & copper (e.g. looming, term & test)
• Systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers)
• Networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, basic troubleshooting)
• Ability to communicate clearly in a virtual environment

Responsibilities

• Act as HW support expert liaison to other technical teams & non-technical teams
• Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all production server hardware
• Plan and commission new rack positions
• Be involved with the design and commissioning of new whitespaces
• Stay updated with the latest technologies and apply them appropriately
• Adhere to defined Health & Safety processes at all times

Additional Info
This role includes on-call responsibilities, requiring a valid driving license to reach the Data Center site within 60 minutes. Candidates should be prepared to work in cramped spaces or elevated locations.
