Data Center Technician

This role involves providing hands-on technical support and installations within a cloud infrastructure (OCI) datacenter in the United Arab Emirates. You will be engaged in server hardware and network break-fix tasks, structured cabling installation, rack deployments and decommissioning activities, site planning, and problem escalation. Additionally, you will be responsible for prioritizing ticketing queues, resolving incidents, and ensuring that technician activities align with internal policies and service level agreements. The position requires providing 24x7 site coverage for the company OCI datacenter sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
• Hands-on experience in IT infrastructure support, server and network maintenance, and structured cabling in a large-scale mission-critical environment
• On-call capability, requiring a driving license and the ability to reach the data center site within 60 minutes
• Ability to work in cramped spaces or elevated locations
• Strong communication skills (oral & written) and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of customers and staff
• Experience providing client-facing, direct customer support and services
• Highly service-oriented, reliable, responsible, and self-motivated

Responsibilities

• Act as a hardware support expert liaison to other technical & non-technical teams (e.g., networking, compute, compliance, business operations)
• Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all production server and network hardware
• Perform system board level repair and fault diagnosis within SLAs
• Structured cabling installation is a significant part of this position
• Plan and commission new whitespace and rack positions
• Perform rack receiving, installation, and decommissioning activities
• Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance audits
• Adhere to the company, site-specific, and customer-specific physical security policies (access control, escort procedures, asset handling)
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and be a team player
• Keep up with the latest technologies and apply them appropriately
