Data Center Technician

As a Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT), you will stage, set up, and perform hardware deployments. Your responsibilities include troubleshooting and diagnostics on equipment, as well as performing hardware decommissions for simple changes and refreshes, all in alignment with Standard Operating Procedures. This role will enhance your understanding of Data Center operations and offer opportunities for career growth through mentoring and familiarization with security and data management procedures.

You will play a crucial role in delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting according to established procedures.
• Replace faulty components promptly while minimizing disruption.
• Conduct post-execution quality checks ensuring compliance with safety protocols and deployment standards.
• Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes, following standard procedures.
• Communicate incidents to appropriate management and assist other technicians with complex tasks.
• Engage in required training and contribute to a positive team environment.

Qualifications:

• Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, with basic knowledge of computer hardware and 1+ year(s) experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
• Background Check: Ability to meet Microsoft’s security screening requirements is mandatory.
• Preferred: 2+ years' experience supporting IT equipment or related technology, and certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+) or Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
