As a Data Center Technician (DCT) Manager, you will lead a team of technicians providing expert guidance on hardware deployments, diagnostics, and decommissions. In this role, you will support technician performance by prioritizing tasks and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Responsibilities
- Deliver success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and promoting a positive team culture.
- Ensure overall data center service compliance and quality.
- Provide guidance to the team and hold them accountable for compliance with Data Center Services (DCS) business unit policies, procedures, deadlines, and service-change policies.
- Ensure technicians are trained on procedures for installation, deployment, replacement, and quality checks.
- Verify that post-execution quality checks are performed and take corrective action when necessary.
- Escalate issues through appropriate channels and follow up on their resolution while sharing knowledge with relevant teams.
- Review process changes to assess impact on service execution and share relevant information with stakeholders.
- Lead team and triage meetings, prioritize work across the team, and adjust priorities as needed.
- Complete required safety training, conduct daily safety briefings, and participate in safety committees.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, promoting a safety culture among technicians and empowering them to report safety concerns.
- Take pride and accountability for the service quality, completeness, and customer experience, demonstrating ownership of the data center facilities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and basic knowledge of computer hardware and components, with 3+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
- 2+ years of experience directing, supervising, or managing others.
- Ability to work shifts, including non-standard business hours, evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Background Check Requirements:
- Must pass company Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
- 3+ years of experience in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 data center environment.
- Relevant certifications including ITIL Foundation, CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), BSC, CDCP, MCP, and Six Sigma Green Belt.
- 2+ years of experience leading a diverse, technical, or IT workforce of up to ten employees.
