We are establishing a new Data Engineer role focused on implementing and evolving our data classification capabilities. This position is critical for ensuring that our data assets are properly identified, categorized, and protected across systems. You will support our commitment to data privacy, compliance, and governance as we scale. Your role will be instrumental in building foundational frameworks that enable secure and compliant data use.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Classification Implementation: Design and implement frameworks and processes to categorize sensitive and non-sensitive data across various sources based on InfoSec team policies.
  • Data Governance & Compliance: Ensure the classification system adheres to industry standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA, working closely with legal and compliance teams.
  • Data Classification Automation: Develop and maintain automated pipelines for consistent and efficient data classification.
  • Data Classification Tools Integration: Integrate classification tools into the organization’s data ecosystem.
  • Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and security teams to ensure accurate data classification.
  • Data Security: Implement security measures to protect classified data, ensuring access is limited to authorized personnel.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly monitor and review the data classification process to identify improvement opportunities and stay updated on data privacy regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with data classification tools and frameworks, specifically hands-on experience with platforms such as Apache Atlas, Collibra, Informatica, or Microsoft Purview.
  • Strong programming and data pipeline development skills, with proficiency in Python and SQL, including experience with ETL/ELT processes and tools like Apache Airflow or dbt.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and compliance regulations, with familiarity with GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, and data governance best practices.

Additional Requirements:

  • A solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, compliance, and risk management.
  • Ability to influence and drive change across both business and technical teams.

Language Requirements:
Proficiency in English is required.
