Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data engineers, ensuring their professional development and high performance.
- Define and execute the data engineering roadmap, aligning with product and business goals.
- Design, implement, and optimize scalable data architectures and ETL pipelines to support real-time and batch processing needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Data Science, Engineering) to ensure data availability, quality, and usability for analytics, reporting, and machine learning models.
- Establish and enforce best practices for data governance, security, and compliance (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
- Drive continuous improvement in data infrastructure to enhance performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Troubleshoot complex data-related issues, ensuring timely resolutions and maintaining system integrity.
- Provide strategic input on emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve data operations.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Strong expertise in designing and managing data pipelines, ETL frameworks, and real-time data processing systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, and experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
- Deep knowledge of cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) and data warehousing solutions (Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).
- Familiarity with orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
- Proven experience in managing data security, governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with a track record of building and motivating high-performance teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, product-driven environment with competing priorities.
- Previous experience in e-commerce, product-focused, or consumer-facing environments is a plus.
