About the Role
Jobholders at this level are responsible for leading work activities and working autonomously with minor direction towards predetermined long-term objectives. They may act as internal consultants and facilitators by providing guidance to deliver and perform operational activities. The main operational role includes providing guidance in developing a data governance roadmap and programs to ensure that data is consistent, secure, accurate, audited, and documented. Jobholders will supervise data governance activities, advise on corrective actions, and provide expertise in identifying improvement areas, recommending actions to minimize data issues.

Job Responsibilities

  • Follow up on the latest news, trends, best practices, and international standards in data governance to define necessary updates in data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Review National Data Management Office (NDMO) approved standards and policies to recommend updates in current data guides and ensure continuous adherence to NDMO requirements.
  • Manage the implementation of data governance activities across functions, identifying noncompliant cases, and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Review functions and duties to allocate access rights to internal stakeholders, ensuring limited information access to secure data protection.
  • Develop and update information controls to protect the organization from unauthorized access, breaches, and vulnerabilities.
  • Escalate complex problems to the relevant person to ensure cases/issues are addressed properly.
  • Support junior staff or direct reports in executing their duties according to established policies and processes.

Communication and Contacts

  • Regular interaction with internal stakeholders, along with collaboration with data management officials to ensure compliance and governance best practices.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or equivalent is required.

Experience

  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is necessary.
