Data Scientist

About the Role
This role will play a critical part in extracting valuable insights from vast data sets to inform business decisions. You will design and implement data mining algorithms, develop predictive models and machine-learning algorithms, and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, you will be responsible for advancing natural language processing and generative models to drive innovation and tackle complex business challenges.

Your duties would include:

• Analyze large volumes of structured/unstructured data to uncover trends, patterns, and hidden insights, identifying opportunities for business problem statements and use cases.
• Utilize advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to derive meaningful insights from complex data sets, aiding business leaders in informed decision-making.
• Develop and apply algorithms and models to extract insights from large-scale datasets, perform data and error analysis to enhance model performance, and ensure data quality and model accuracy through cleansing and validation. Implement model explainability to support transparent outcomes.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of AI/ML governance frameworks, responsible AI principles, and MLOps pipelines across public cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure.
• Design and implement data mining, machine learning, and time-series forecasting models on cloud platforms, ensuring compliance with enterprise AI security, governance, and data compliance frameworks.
• Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics, conducting error analysis, hyperparameter tuning, validation, and iterative improvements while incorporating business and user feedback to enhance model accuracy and robustness.
• Apply ensemble learning techniques and advanced modelling approaches to improve predictive performance and model reliability.
• Leverage Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to develop innovative business solutions, responsibly generating and using synthetic data when appropriate.
• Design, develop, and deploy advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) and LLM-based solutions for large-scale unstructured data, supporting use cases like text generation, summarization, translation, information extraction, and content generation through effective prompt engineering techniques.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand business challenges, translate requirements into analytical problems, and identify high-value Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Artificial Intelligence use cases.
• Partner with Data Engineering teams to acquire, integrate, cleanse, validate, and prepare high-quality datasets for advanced analytics and AI/ML solutions.
• Operationalize analytical and AI/ML models by working with Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, and MLOps Engineers, ensuring scalable, secure, monitored, and reliable production deployment.
• Communicate complex technical concepts, analytical findings, model outcomes, limitations, and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Data Science, Machine Learning, and Generative AI solutions into enterprise applications and business processes.
• Stay abreast of emerging advancements in AI, Generative AI, LLMs, Machine Learning, and MLOps, assessing their applicability in solving real-world business problems.
• Evaluate Data Science, AI/ML, and Generative AI solutions proposed by vendors, considering architecture, modelling methodology, technical feasibility, scalability, security, governance, explainability, MLOps readiness, cloud compatibility, performance metrics, and alignment with business requirements.
• Provide technical recommendations during vendor evaluations, solution assessments, Proof of Concept (PoC) reviews, and architecture/design discussions, highlighting potential risks, gaps, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Perform other departmental responsibilities relevant to the position as assigned by the Head of the Department.

Qualification
We are seeking a passionate and experienced professional for our IT team. The ideal candidate should possess the following:

Essential

• Bachelor's/Master’s Degree or Equivalent with a minimum of 6 years of job-related experience
• At least 6 years' experience in Data Science
• Experience with ML deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and advanced Python programming
• Experience in data pattern recognition, predictive modeling, and time series modeling on public cloud platforms.
• In-depth understanding of machine learning algorithms and modelling (e.g., semi-supervised learning, generative models, transfer learning, large language models)
• Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis
• Knowledge of data profiling, data quality measurement, and cleaning
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for addressing complex data challenges
• Excellent command of the English language and good presentation skills.
• Passionate about data science and AI, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and developments through training and certifications.

Preferred

• Experience with generative AI models and relevant AI certifications
