In this hands-on, high-impact role, you will lead the development of a data strategy that delivers current needs and prepares the business for AI governance, lineage, and risk management. You will be responsible for defining and operationalizing a Data Governance Framework, building and executing an enterprise Data Strategy aligned with analytics and AI goals, and leading initiatives related to business taxonomy, cataloging, and metadata standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and operationalize the Data Governance Framework and associated policies.
- Build and execute an enterprise Data Strategy aligned with analytics and AI goals.
- Lead initiatives around business taxonomy, cataloging, metadata standards, and classification.
- Align governance with data architecture principles across Azure and AWS platforms.
- Partner with AI teams to define AI Governance principles.
- Lead workshops with stakeholders across IT, business, security, and compliance.
- Define policies and controls aligned with global and regional data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, PDPL, NDMO, POPIA).
- Guide the rollout of tools like Azure Purview, AWS Glue Catalog, Informatica, Collibra, or Alation.
Location: Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Work Conditions:
- Type: Full-time contract (6–8 months, with extension potential)
- Hybrid / Onsite: UAE, Saudi Arabia, or Egypt
- Frequent travel to: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, and South Africa
What You Bring:
- 10+ years in data governance, data strategy, or enterprise architecture.
- Deep experience with Azure and AWS data platforms and their governance tooling.
- Proven delivery of data policy frameworks, ownership models, and RACI structures.
- Understanding of how data governance enables AI trust, transparency, and control.
- Demonstrated experience aligning governance with privacy laws (e.g., GDPR or regional equivalents).
- Strong communication and workshop facilitation skills across business and tech.
- Experience in multi-country programs or regulated data environments is a plus.
