Position

As a Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT), you will be responsible for staging, setting up, and performing hardware deployments. Your role will also involve troubleshooting and conducting diagnostics on equipment, as well as executing hardware decommissions for simple changes and refreshes in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. This position provides an opportunity to deepen your understanding of Data Center standard processes and procedures, develop mentoring skills by guiding peers, and gain familiarity with security and data management practices, all while accelerating your career growth.

You will play a key role within Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s online services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting, quickly identifying causes of issues and replacing faulty components while minimizing disruption.
  • Conduct post-execution quality checks to ensure proper setup according to safety protocols and deployment standards.
  • Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes, adhering to standard procedures.
  • Communicate and escalate incidents to appropriate management and engineering specialists.
  • Assist and guide other technicians in completing complex tasks.
  • Complete required training aligned to your role and observe more experienced technicians for hands-on training.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by sharing information and engaging in team meetings.
  • Ensure accountability for service quality and the user experience, embodying the company culture and values.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
  • Experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft’s security screening requirements.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+) and Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
