Position

The Directed Energy Research Center at the company is seeking a highly motivated Deputy SAR System Engineer to contribute to the development and implementation of a spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payload. This role will play a key part in designing, developing, and optimizing SAR systems for remote sensing and Earth observation applications. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with payload requirements and mission objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in defining and documenting SAR system requirements and specifications.
  • Support the process of flow-down of SAR system requirements into payload sub-systems.
  • Engage in SAR system design, modeling, and simulation activities.
  • Help implement and test SAR signal processing algorithms.
  • Contribute to system integration, anomaly investigations, and optimization tasks.
  • Assist in laboratory testing campaigns, including setup and data collection.
  • Participate in analysis of SAR imagery and performance validation.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, AIT, and systems engineers across teams.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
  • Stay updated on emerging SAR technologies and techniques.
  • Manage requirement definition, interface control, and technical trade studies to ensure SAR payload mission success.
  • Support the senior SAR system engineer in daily activities.
  • Document testing procedures, results, and corrective actions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in radar signal processing, satellite imaging, or geospatial technologies.
  • Understanding of RF and microwave systems and integration principles and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering principles and practices, such as requirements management and system validation.
  • Passion for Remote Sensing Space Programs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a high-tech, research-driven environment.
