Design Engineer - Control Panel and Relay System

About the Role
The primary responsibility of the Design Engineer is to be an integral member of the Solar PV design team, supporting the company's strategic growth through direct engagement with the Business Development/Sales Team and Operations Team.

Job Responsibilities
Active participation in the End-to-End processes of Lead-to-Contract and Contract-to-Execution by managing the following main job criteria:

Solar & Electrical Design

• Performing preliminary data analysis and developing technical recommendations for a first screening of potential PV Solar Assets.
• Responsible for Preliminary and Detailed Design focusing on Technical Configuration and Optimization, including:
  • PV-Syst Output Simulations
  • Helioscope Output Simulation
  • Homer Output Simulations
  • Solar Auto-CAD Layouts, including Mechanical and Installation Details (Mounting Structure, Inverter mounting, cable trays, weather station, walkways, etc.)
  • Project Single Line Diagrams
  • Solar Lab Reports and Shading Analysis
  • Basis of Offers
  • Ensuring compliance with Utilities’ standards regarding Design, Safety, Environment, and Development of Complex Projects while utilizing the latest technologies.
• Maintaining a close relationship with EEE’s core design team and execution team to ensure proper transfer of experience and knowledge in both directions.
• Understanding region-specific regulations and issues required for developing the most effective designs for Solar PV projects related to Lease models, PPA contracts, EPC contracts, etc.
• Applying methodologies, tools, and technical experience in building guaranteed energy output tables for commercial/contractual purposes.

Projects Estimation

• Managing the generation of Project estimation sheets (CAPEX & OPEX) and schedules of projects for internal and external use per guidelines from the Technical Manager.
• Optimizing designs for better and competitive CAPEX & OPEX approaches without compromising quality or industry standards.
• Advising and aligning with the Supply Chain on Solar Products pricing, availability, and updates in the system.

Projects Coordination

• Attending Kick-off meetings to collect important design enhancement feedback and applying the same to new opportunities.
• Supporting and providing technical expertise during site surveys to design the most effective solar solutions and electrical integrations & infrastructure suited to site conditions.
• Aligning with the Project Execution team to ensure smooth project construction as per approved designs, industry standards, utilities requirements, and manufacturers recommendations.
• Supporting the Project Execution team during various stages of the projects including inspection, installation, and testing stages if required.

Innovation

• Attending suppliers training seminars and webinars to stay updated with the newest technologies in the market and the latest trending technological ideas to enhance the company's competitive advantage.
• Introducing new ideas for consistent design optimization, ease of implementation, and smoother operation & maintenance of Solar PV systems to increase EEE's market competitiveness and market share.

Job Requirements
Qualifications

• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputed institution.
• Must have hands-on design exposure (certification is a plus) using at least one or multiple solar PV software e.g. PVSyst, Helioscope, SketchUp, Homer, etc.
• Knowledge of using AutoCAD is necessary.
• Knowledge in ETAP setting calculation is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of using cable-sizing calculation and LV/MV electrical panels design & optimization.
• Full understanding of solar technologies and products.
• Knowledge of solar product code certifications and testing required by authorities.
• A results-oriented individual with the ability to work on multiple projects.

Experience

• Must have a minimum of 2 years of demonstrated work experience in the Solar PV design field in the UAE.
