Design Manager – Fire Life Safety (FLS)

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Design Manager – Fire Life Safety (FLS) to work with a multi-disciplinary team in the Engineering Department. The role involves managing the technical delivery and integration of fire life and safety design by the client’s design consultants. The Design Manager will ensure compliance with technical standards, regulatory requirements, and project objectives while integrating designs with other disciplines.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the Fire Life Safety (FLS) design scope within the Power & Utilities package.
• Coordinating with civil, structural, and utilities teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Managing design consultants and sub-contractors for timely and quality submissions.
• Conducting technical reviews, value engineering assessments, and technical support during construction.
• Establishing and maintaining engineering progress and performance measurement processes.

Location: Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Work Conditions: On-site, Full-time

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering.
• 15-20 years of overall experience, with 8-10 years in large infrastructure projects.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Strong technical knowledge of fire protection systems design and local/international fire codes (NFPA, IBC, Saudi Building Code).
• Proven experience in delivering FLS design on large-scale projects.
• Experience managing multiple design consultants in a schedule-driven environment.
• Familiarity with BIM platforms and FLS-specific simulation tools.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
