About the Role
The primary responsibility of a Design Manager is to manage the design activities in an MEP project, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and scope. This role also involves monitoring or tracking project milestones and deliverables. The incumbent will plan and assign activities to a team of design engineers to complete the overall design of MEP Projects, which encompass HVAC, Fire Protection, Lighting, Small Power, ELV systems, Plumbing, and Drainage installations in line with project schedules.

Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall strategic planning of project design activities to ensure timely delivery according to the project schedule.
- Monitor, control, and implement corrective actions concerning design activities.
- Oversee resource utilization during project design realization.
- Manage project performance regarding time and cost to ensure timely delivery of design while meeting quality standards.
- Maintain and review issue logs for cost and time impacts on project design during execution.
- Track project schedules and prepare and submit weekly progress reports to the Project Manager and internal teams.
- Conduct periodic internal team progress review meetings weekly and document execution, monitoring, and control of design activities.
- Plan and update design activities in the project plan weekly and monthly in consultation with the Project Manager.
- Liaise with the Project Manager on changes and adjustments to cost estimates and project plans.
- Ensure timely delivery of all MEP works design-related client approvals through effective tracking mechanisms.
- Review and maintain a logbook on daily activities of the design team.
- Manage historical data for all design issues.
- Issue technical clearance of Manufacturing, FAT, dispatch, and inspection certificate-related activities from the client.
- Collaborate with the ESCO team to incorporate energy-saving measures into MEP design.
- Provide necessary technical training both in-house and externally to enrich the knowledge of team members and enhance the capacity of the Design department.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Post-Graduation in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is desired.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of overall experience in the design of MEP projects for residential and commercial towers and industrial buildings.
- Minimum 4 years of managerial experience in the design of MEP projects within the UAE or GCC countries.
- Experience in the ESCO industry is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of MEP systems, engineering and construction practices, and authority regulations.
- Proficiency in software such as HAP, AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM, DIALUX, AMTECH, and CABLE PRO.
- Thorough understanding of HVAC design, plumbing, and drainage.
- Strong skills in electrical design and problem-solving.
- Proven expertise in building and leading teams to produce efficient and cost-effective MEP designs.
- Strong leadership capabilities to manage a team of design engineers and draftsmen.
- Willingness to conduct site visits and attend client meetings.
- Possession of a valid UAE driving license.
