The Director manages a portfolio of multi-disciplinary core facilities, including Advanced Manufacturing & Electronics, Analytical & Materials Characterization, Biomedical Imaging, and more. As a principal advisor to NYUAD leadership on research infrastructure strategy, the Director establishes and executes multi-year strategic and operational plans, drives a culture of safety and service, ensures regulatory compliance, and fosters communication with the research community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff and Budget Management: Direct and develop a diverse team of scientific specialists and administrators; prepare and manage annual budgets.
- Equipment and Infrastructure Stewardship: Lead procurement, installation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of advanced research instrumentation and facilities.
- Policy, Training and User Support: Develop, update, and enforce policies and standard operating procedures; design training programs for effective use of platforms.
- Innovation and Technology Foresight: Stay current with emerging technologies; benchmark peer institutions; evaluate CTP capabilities.
- Strategic and Operational Planning: Collaborate with leadership to develop multi-year plans; identify and communicate risks and opportunities affecting research operations.
Qualifications:
- Required Education: Doctoral Degree in Science or Engineering field.
- Required Experience:
- 7 years or more in university laboratory operations and management of advanced research and teaching equipment.
- 5 years or more in higher education or research institute laboratories.
- 2 years or more in management at higher education or research institutions.
- Current knowledge of advanced scientific equipment and research techniques.
- Experience managing research-grade equipment from various manufacturers.
- Language Requirements: Fluent in English, including technical terms.
