We are looking for a highly talented Director of Engineering to join our team. This role is ideal for someone eager to make a significant impact, collaborate with a skilled and diverse team, and thrive in a dynamic B2C environment.
Job Description:
As a Director of Engineering at Hungerstation, you will tackle high-impact challenges that enhance last-mile delivery efficiency, affordability, and sustainability. Your efforts will directly improve the experiences of riders, end customers, and vendors across Saudi Arabia, supporting expansion into new areas like grocery and retail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Scale High-Performing Teams: Manage 3-6 engineering managers and oversee an organization of 30+ engineers, fostering a high-performance culture and alignment with organizational goals.
- Define and Execute Strategic Vision: Develop and implement technical and team strategies aligned with business objectives, ensuring delivery of impactful and scalable solutions.
- Drive Business Impact Through Collaboration: Build and maintain strong partnerships with Product and Operations leaders to align on priorities, OKRs, and roadmaps, ensuring that engineering work contributes to business success.
- Promote a Culture of Transparency and Growth: Foster open communication, accountability, and continuous improvement through 360-degree feedback and sharing achievements and failures within the engineering community.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and Arabic with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Previous experience working in the Saudi market and/or with startups.
- Expertise in leading high-performing engineering teams, preferably within KSA-based technology startups.
- Proven track record in designing and delivering scalable products.
- Experience in building and managing complex systems.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Experience leading senior personnel (staff & principal engineers, senior managers) is a plus.
- Strong fundamentals in Computer Science, including algorithms and mathematics, along with basic understanding of data science and machine learning.
