Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to guest calls and departmental work orders (e.g., HotSOS); prioritize guest-occupied rooms and villas.
- Carry out first-line repairs across various trades, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, minor carpentry, locks, and general maintenance.
- Perform scheduled plant room rounds, recording readings for chillers, AHUs/FCUs, boilers, pumps, water tanks, pools, and generators.
- Monitor the Building Management System (BMS) and fire alarm panel; act immediately on alarms and escalate to the Duty Engineer as needed.
- Act as a member of the emergency response team for fire, flooding, power failure, lift entrapment, and gas leaks.
- Inspect public areas, lighting, signage, and pool and beach equipment during rounds; fix or report any defects.
- Carry out preventive maintenance tasks assigned by the supervisor during quieter periods.
- Issue and follow permit-to-work and lock-out/tag-out procedures; supervise contractors working during the shift.
- Complete the shift log and provide a clear handover to the next shift, including open jobs and recurring issues.
- Record energy and water meter readings and support Planet 21 sustainability actions.
- Work courteously and discreetly with guests in rooms and public areas.
- Adhere to Health & Safety, Dubai Civil Defence, and the company's standards; maintain cleanliness of tools and the workshop.
Qualifications
- Diploma or technical certificate in electrical, mechanical, or HVAC engineering, or equivalent trade qualification.
- Minimum 3 years' multi-skilled maintenance experience, ideally in a 5-star hotel or resort.
- Practical knowledge of electrical systems (low voltage), plumbing, HVAC, and building management systems.
- Familiarity with fire safety systems and emergency procedures.
- Good spoken and written English skills.
- Computer literate; capable of using the maintenance system and shift logs.
