Economist - Marketplace

The company MENA Marketplace is looking for a passionate, analytically strong, and innovative leader to help define and set economic conditions for the success of our Selling Partners and the company. This role will directly impact all sellers (existing and potential) who wish to offer products to customers in the region. An ideal candidate will possess the business judgment to understand the impact of recommendations on seller economics and trade-offs to the company's business. This motivated self-starter will have a curiosity to learn, excellent analytical skills, superior written and verbal communication abilities, and the capability to influence cross-functional teams. A strong bias toward data-driven decision-making is essential, with collaboration expected closely with Business, Finance, Tech, and other Fee teams around the world to deliver on their charter.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and apply economic frameworks to evaluate modifications to fee structures and their magnitudes, communicating trade-offs to prioritize the most critical and impactful work.
• Analyze and solve business problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.
• Partner with Business, Finance, Operations, Legal, Tech, and other global fee teams to understand their pain-points and emerging priorities, ensuring fee strategy and execution align with wider business priorities.
• Collaborate with Fee teams across other marketplaces to share learnings and develop common frameworks and mechanisms.
• Develop and improve solutions to drive efficiencies in the fee setting process (business assessments, fee change execution, and monitoring/audit) and enhance Seller experience/clarity on fee-related topics.
• Report key insights and trends, employing statistical rigor to simplify and inform the larger team of noteworthy storylines.
• Participate in periodic reviews with the company Executive Leadership team.
