About the Role
As a Sr. Electrical Engineer focusing on Inverter Power Electronics, you will be primarily responsible for the design intent assembly requirements of Inverter Power Electronics along with associated EOL (End of Line) test specifications. You will engage in root cause analysis of product issues and develop interim containment actions, verification, and permanent corrective actions in conjunction with core engineering teams to ensure that design intent and validation requirements are met. Your role is critical in addressing complex integration challenges and supporting our innovative vehicle technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solve complex component/system level problems using standard problem-solving techniques for inverter power electronics and associated software interfaces.
  • Engage in data-driven proactive problem solving, conducting root cause analysis and preventing issues due to process deviations or critical part quality concerns.
  • Establish technical depth for troubleshooting Inverter Power Electronics components and associated End of Line test equipment/test specifications.
  • Oversee design intent assembly requirements for Inverter Power Electronics assembly and enforce these on the production line in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Support new product launches and execute part concession deviations related to Inverter Power Electronics and associated test specifications in the manufacturing plant.
  • Facilitate high-volume production ramp activities in conjunction with product engineering.
  • Advise on build process development and potential improvements for high-volume production lines.
  • Lead product change management efforts to address known product compatibility issues for high-volume production or known design issues, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams as needed.

Skills

  • Proficient in structured product problem-solving and root cause analysis utilizing industry-standard techniques.
  • Advanced data analysis skills using statistical methods and tools such as Minitab, JMP, Python, and MATLAB.
  • Technical expertise in Inverter Power Electronics, including associated interfaces and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuits.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, probes, power analyzers, and DC/AC power supplies.
  • Understanding of electromagnetic compatibility and functional testing in Power Electronics.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols and associated troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, DVP&R, DFM/DFA, and RCA.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools, including Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong communication, cross-functional collaboration, and technical documentation skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with 5+ years of automotive experience in vehicle attribute design and release, or a Master of Science degree in the same fields with 6+ years of relevant automotive experience.
  • Previous experience in a resident product engineering role within a manufacturing plant environment.
  • Experience with the development or improvement of Power Electronics products.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred.
  • Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification or certification in engineering fundamentals is preferred.
  • Experience in collegiate FSAE, BAJA, or similar projects is advantageous.

    Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours of paid time off and salaried/exempt employees accrue up to 160 hours.
