Roles & Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring the duties of the position are performed in a safe, efficient, and effective manner in compliance with company safety rules and regulations.
- Perform maintenance activities in a timely and safe manner, adhering to maintenance procedures and work instructions for respective activities while documenting maintenance concerns/history for equipment.
- Report to the Electrical Supervisor/Engineer for spare parts and consumables required for activities and update spares availability to meet maintenance requirements.
- Ensure proper isolations are carried out before starting maintenance activities, in coordination with the Electrical Supervisor and local operator.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, performing maintenance on equipment under jurisdiction. Must possess knowledge of electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and protection drawings for equipment used in the plant.
- Install, adjust, inspect, service, and repair a variety of static and rotating electrical equipment utilized in power and desalination plants.
- Carry out necessary preparations for electrical maintenance to equipment/area assigned.
- Understand working knowledge of equipment operation and associated operating systems.
- Perform 5S housekeeping in the work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or have worked as skilled electrical labor in relevant plants for a minimum of 4 years.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Engineering.
Minimum Experience
- 4 years in the same position or as skilled electrical labor in relevant plants for a minimum of 4 years.
Preferred Experience
- Extensive experience as an Electrical Technician in any of the following types: Conventional, Combined Cycle, Cogeneration, Water Desalination Plants (e.g., RO, MSF, MED), and Renewable Energy types (e.g., Solar, Wind Mills).
Required Skills
- Generic awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environmental Management system principles.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment efficiently and responsibly.
- Willingness to work in non-ideal environments such as confined spaces, at heights, and around chemicals.
- Understanding and enforcement of safe work practices related to respiratory protection, elevated work platforms, fall protection, hazardous energy control (Lockout/Tag-out), fire protection systems, electrical safety, confined space entry, and PPE.
- Knowledge of identification, classification, and disposal of waste.
- Knowledge of environmental and health impacts of chemicals used in the plant.
- Knowledge of firefighting equipment and first aid measures.
- Basic knowledge of power/water plant operational activities.
- Basic computer skills.
Desired Certification / Job Specific Skill / Training
- ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 awareness/working knowledge is preferred.
