Main Responsibilities:
- Firmware Development: Design and write efficient, robust, and well-documented firmware in C/C++ for microcontrollers and embedded processors.
- Low-Level Programming: Develop and optimize drivers for communication interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART) and various sensors, including transducers and pressure sensors.
- Hardware-Software Integration: Collaborate with hardware engineers to bring up new boards and debug hardware-software interface issues.
- Real-Time Systems: Implement real-time operating systems (RTOS) and manage resource allocation to ensure mission-critical processes meet strict timing requirements.
- Power Management: Develop and implement strategies for ultra-low-power operation to maximize battery life for long-term deployments.
- Testing & Debugging: Create test scripts and debug embedded software using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and in-circuit debuggers.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Hands-on experience with a variety of microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM, PIC) and knowledge of their peripherals.
- Practical experience with real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar.
- A strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design, schematics, and datasheets.
- Knowledge of standard communication protocols used in embedded systems.
- Excellent analytical and debugging skills to diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in embedded systems development, preferably in a product-focused role.
- Prior experience with underwater systems, IoT devices, or other low-power, ruggedized electronics is highly desirable.
