Position

Unikie is seeking an Embedded IoT Engineer to join our team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (On-site). In this role, you will develop and integrate embedded IoT solutions, particularly utilizing LoRa and LoRaWAN technologies for secure and resilient communications. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing Zephyr RTOS device drivers for various sensors, ensuring compatibility, efficiency, and reliability; collaborating closely with hardware and software teams to create robust embedded solutions using Nordic Semiconductor microcontrollers (e.g., nRF52 and nRF53 series); prototyping IoT concepts into functional demonstrators (Technology Readiness Levels 4-6), incorporating secure communications and reliable sensor integration; collaborating with academic and industry partners to apply cutting-edge research findings to IoT and cyber-physical systems; and contributing to internal knowledge sharing, technical documentation, patent drafting, and participating in relevant industry forums and conferences.

Required Qualifications:

  • MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience with LoRa and LoRaWAN for low-power, wide-area networking.
  • Demonstrable expertise in writing Zephyr RTOS device drivers and interfacing with new sensors.
  • Strong proficiency in embedded C/C++ development, specifically with ARM-based MCUs (Nordic Semiconductor nRF series preferred).
  • Experience with hardware troubleshooting, debugging techniques, and writing low-level drivers and interrupt service routines.
  • Broad understanding of IoT security principles and wireless network security paradigms.
  • Familiarity with 3D printing for rapid prototyping and sensor integration solutions.
  • Competency in Python scripting and Linux Bash environments.
  • Experience with common bus protocols such as SPI, I2C, and UART.
  • Ability to learn new skills and operate in a fast-paced and changing environment.
