Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, mainly known for its platform, Ubuntu, which is utilized in various enterprise initiatives including public cloud, data science, AI, and IoT. We are expanding our reach in critical industries such as Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, and Telco, as well as Consumer Electronics, and are seeking an Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT.
In this role, you will engage with customers during presales to gather requirements, propose solutions, and participate in delivering select projects related to Embedded Linux. You will convey market requirements to key stakeholders and advocate for our customers while also advising Canonical on potential opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage customers during presales to gather requirements and explain our technology.
- Elaborate and propose solutions to prospective clients.
- Participate in the delivery of projects related to Embedded Linux.
- Convey market requirements and help develop solutions to unlock market potential.
- Act as both a customer advocate and a trusted advisor to Canonical.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
- Extensive Linux experience (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
- Experience with distribution/packaging (e.g., deb, rpm).
- Solid embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot).
- Fluency in at least one programming language such as Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
- Professional written and spoken English, plus proficiency in local languages for roles in Japan and Korea.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Result-oriented and an ability to multi-task.
- A personal drive to meet commitments and willingness to learn.
- Experience with customer engagements is a plus but not required.
