We are seeking an Embedded Linux Field Engineering Manager to lead a regional team of Field Engineers focused on Presales and Professional Services. In this role, you will assist customers with solution architecture, design, and delivery, focusing on creating highly secure connected devices using the Ubuntu OS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers at various experience levels in Presales and Professional Services.
- Solve customer problems by promoting Canonical’s technologies and serving as a trusted advisor.
- Work remotely within a single major time zone while managing a diverse team.
- Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members.
- Identify and measure team health indicators and implement disciplined engineering processes.
- Represent your team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
- Plan and manage progress on goals and projects.
- Collaborate actively as part of the leadership team with other leaders.
What We Are Looking For:
- Exceptional academic credentials in Computer Science or a related technical field, with a Bachelor's degree.
- Extensive experience with embedded Linux, particularly with Yocto or similar technologies.
- Strong Linux experience, preferably with Debian or Ubuntu.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
- Experience managing a small team and engaging with customers.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a result-oriented mindset and a commitment to delivering value.
- A humble learner and quick study, with a knack for communicating the business benefits of technology.
Additional Desirable Skills:
- Experience with RTOS and knowledge of additional human languages.
- Previous experience in a remote-first, diverse, distributed environment.
