You will collaborate with specialist engineers from major silicon companies to integrate next-generation features and performance enhancements for upcoming hardware. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing the best Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.
- Working with partners to deliver an optimal Ubuntu experience on their platforms.
- Taking a holistic approach to the Ubuntu experience with inputs on technical plans, testing strategy, and quality metrics.
- Participating as a technical lead on complex customer engagements involving complete system architectures from cloud to edge.
- Helping customers integrate their apps, SDKs, build device OS images, and optimise applications with Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or similar.
- Experience with Linux packaging (Debian, RPM, Yocto).
- Experience working with open source communities and licenses.
- Proficient in C and C++.
- Ability to work in a globally distributed team with self-discipline and self-motivation.
Additional Skills (Nice to Have):
- Experience with graphics stacks.
- Good understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTP/REST).
- Basic understanding of security best practices in IoT or server environments.
- Good communication skills, ideally with public speaking experience.
- IoT/Embedded experience, from board and SoC to bootloaders, firmware, and applications.
- Some experience with Docker/OCI containers/Kubernetes.
