Position

As an Embedded Linux Senior Software Engineer at the company, you will work across the full Linux stack from kernel through GUI to optimize Ubuntu, the world's most widely used Linux desktop and server, for the latest silicon. This fast-paced, problem-solving role is both challenging and exciting. You will be resourceful, articulate, and able to deliver a wide variety of solutions across PC and IoT technologies. Collaborating with specialist engineers from major silicon companies, you will integrate next-generation features and performance enhancements for upcoming hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement optimal Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.
  • Partner with teams to ensure a delightful, optimized Ubuntu experience on partner platforms.
  • Take a holistic approach to the Ubuntu experience with insights on technical plans, testing strategy, and quality metrics.
  • Serve as a technical lead on complex customer engagements involving complete system architectures from cloud to edge.
  • Assist customers in integrating their apps, SDKs, and optimizing applications with Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server.
  • Engage with advanced operating systems and application technologies within the enterprise sector.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
  • Experience with Linux packaging (Debian, RPM, Yocto).
  • Familiarity with open source communities and licenses.
  • Proficiency in programming with C and C++.
  • Ability to work in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience with graphics stacks.
  • Good understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTP/REST).
  • Basic understanding of security best practices in IoT or server environments.
  • Strong communication skills, ideally with public speaking experience.
  • IoT/Embedded experience, covering aspects from board and SoC to firmware and services.
  • Some experience with Docker/OCI containers/Kubernetes (K8s).
