This role supports all International Carriers and activities at Cable Landing stations across three locations in the UAE. Responsibilities include maintaining international carriers’ fault management, service change review, implementation, validation, daily equipment inspection, and ensuring the availability of Submarine systems such as SMW5, EIG, and Falcon that transport international traffic from cable landing stations to remote points of presence under an agreed SLA.

Key Accountabilities include:
- Maintaining and controlling all submarine systems/networks (EIG, SMW5, etc.) for all cable landing stations end to end.
- Performing daily Hands and Eyes activities (24*7) for all Cable Landing Stations equipment across three locations in the UAE, addressing both Marine and Terrestrial International links for any fault or proactive measures.
- Analyzing and troubleshooting subsea cable faults, coordinating with cable ships to identify fault locations during subsea repairs.
- Facilitating hardware and software upgrades for all submarine equipment installed in all cable landing stations.
- Coordinating with Installation, Testing & Commissioning for new expansion projects through cable system providers.
- Managing day-to-day incidents and planned work related to international carrier services, leading end-to-end testing with different teams until resolution.
- Tracking planned work activities for International carriers and providing technical assessments while maintaining the activity calendar/tracker.
- Conducting health checks for Submarine Repeaters and Branching Units at all landing stations.
- Performing fibre patching for restoration/migration, new provisioning, transmission tests, and loop testing as necessary.
- Collaborating with various teams on new International Carrier projects, including links capacity upgrades and new installations.
Qualifications required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering or Electronics and Communications Engineering, or equivalent diploma in a related field.
Experience requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years in ITMC and/or cable landing station engineering.
- Deep understanding of transmission technologies (OTN, OSN, SDH – Optic) and subsea cable systems/equipment.
- Good foundational knowledge of IP technologies.
- Fluent in written and verbal English.
Skills needed:
- Excellent knowledge of subsea cable systems and equipment (PFE, SLTE, SIE).
- Proficient with transmission technologies (OTN, OSN, SDH – Optic, DWDM).
- Hands-on experience using test equipment (E1 Tester, SDH Analyser, GE Tester, Power Meter, COTDR).
- Familiarity with equipment from Huawei, Nokia, Ciena, Tyco, Infinera, and ASN.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project).
- Experience with trouble-ticketing systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and self-motivation, with a results-oriented mindset.
- Capability to be a team player with flexibility, multitasking ability, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities, capacity to work under pressure and manage network crises.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate excellent follow-through.
